Founded in 2005 by Michael Surmanian and Dr. Brendan O’Farrell, DCN Diagositics is headquartered in Carlsbad and occupies over 13,000 square feet, including a state-of-art laboratory. DCN brings product to market by using their understanding of rapid assay applications, markets and technology with advanced design and development capabilities. Over the past decade, DCN has helped support their home town as well as communities abroad by donating over $150,000 to charities. This year, DCN supported the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad. A $10,000 donation was presented to the Clubs’ CEO, Brad Holland, at DCN’s 10th Anniversary Gala held at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad. Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad has played an integral role in the Carlsbad community since 1952, providing programs and services to thousands of young people. The organization is 100% funded by local donors.

Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation holds Annual Meeting

Santa Visit, Cookie Decorating Workshop, Holiday Fun for Kids at Tri-City Wellness

Monday, the 19th at 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m., children will meet Santa and learn piping and other decorating techniques from Culinary Instructor Ro Zinniger. $25 class fee or 2 for $45, Santa visit included. On Wednesday, the 21st at 10:30 a.m., watch a special screening of “Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown” and make a special craft!  First time, local parents will receive a complimentary full access Center pass on both dates. $6 childcare fee, event included.

Local Educators Participate in Walk 4 Hearing to Benefit Deaf Heart, Inc.

A group of educators for Deaf and Hard of Hearing put their feet and hearts in motion while joining San Diego Walk 4 Hearing to raise funds for Deaf Heart, Inc., a nonprofit corporation located in Carlsbad and dedicated to our Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) youth of North San Diego County. All funds raised were for the encouragement and empowerment of DHH youth and reducing the stigma of hearing loss. Local Linda Dye organized the participation of educators of DHH in the annual walk and chose Deaf Heart, Inc. as the local nonprofit to support. Deaf Heart, Inc. offers workshops, sponsors social events, and partners with local businesses to provide on-the-job training for DHH youth in North San Diego County. Deaf Heart, Inc. support at risk youth in their endeavor towards self worth and self identity, and support DHH individuals in their ultimate goal of  maximum independence.

This is Queen Bee Market’s biggest event, taking place at a 100,000 square foot industrial warehouse space located at 1300 Specialty Drive in Vista, CA. The Holiday Show will be held on Friday, December 2nd, 4 p.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday, December 3rd, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The two-day event will feature a carefully curated selection of the best vintage and handmade goods from over 85 local and national vendors specializing in accessories, clothing, home décor, furniture, vintage items, paper arts and more. Queen Bee Market will bring together thousands of shoppers for a fun, artisanal shopping experience with live music, food and drinks.
