Legoland breaks ground 
on second Hotel

Legoland has begun building The Castle Hotel, which will have 250 rooms with three different room themes: Princess, Wizard and Knight. It is projected to open in the Spring of 2018 and will be the first of its kind in North America.   The hotel is expected to create hundreds of jobs and bring millions of dollars into the Carlsbad economy.

Carlsbad Sister City Ambassadors will be hosting two tours to our Sister Cities in 2017.  The May trip will focus on Sister City Karlovy Vary and include neighboring cities such as Vienna and Prague.  In October, travelers visit Tokyo, Kyoto & our Sister City Futtsu.

Carlsbad is gaining a new dining and spa destination, opening at the luxurious Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara. Seasons is a farm to table restaurant that Chef Ball puts a fresh and modern twist with locally sourced ingredients. Don Diego Scholarship Foundation Deadline

The Don Diego Scholarship Foundation will offer a record total of $65,000 college scholarships for 27 outstanding students in the San Diego County area who have participated in the San Diego Fair and/or other activities associated with the Del Mar Fairgrounds.  Deadline to apply is March 20, 2017. The Foundation was named for Don, Diego AKA Tom Hernandez, who served as the Fair’s welcoming goodwill ambassador from 1947-1984.

Tri-City Wellness raises over $3,000 for ALS

Members and guests got ‘“Active4ALS” by enjoying a fun fundraising night for Augie’s Quest. The event included classes such as a Pool Party with light show and eclectic dance mix and with tropical smoothies. As well as, Candlelight Yoga complete with a twinkling curtain, lemon cookies and their signature Zen Tea blend. The proceeds are being donated to The ALS Foundation to help cure Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Pets on Parade 
Raises over $1000 for local Dog Rescue.

The Village Faire Shops, in collaboration with the Carlsbad Village Association, hosted the ever-popular Pets on Parade Sunday, December 11th and together raised $1,545 for Carlsbad-based Wagging Dog Rescue.  Along with sponsors Posh Paws Photography and Aranelle, hundreds of dog enthusiasts enjoyed a fun-filled day of raffle prizes, a silent auction, vendor displays, music, popcorn, free samples, a group photo and a Santa-led parade through the Village.
