A new local addition to North County…serving up whiskey in a fresh way!
Henebery Whiskey, a 90 proof rye whiskey made with organic ingredients, dates back to 1851 in Peoria, Illinois, where it was farm-to-bottle produced by Matthew Henebery. His great-great-great grandson-in law, Jesse Fanning, is now resurrecting the brand that ceased to exist when Matthew passed. Jesse, along with his family; including his mother, father-in-law and wife, are resurrecting the family name by recreating the original Henebery labels and following the business plan that Matthew had sketched over 100 years ago. They are also proud to be family-operated and owned.
Currently, Jesse is making the whiskey from grain to bottle, in house, at his Vista distillery. Visitors can observe the distilling process while sampling various whiskies. The barrel program that Jesse created educates visitors about the aging process on an in-depth level for true whiskey lovers.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to join their whiskey club. Members will be invited to private and exclusive events, have access to special releases, receive whiskey lessons and cocktail recipes. Plus, it is free to join.
Henebery, North County Board Meeting and Carlsbad Lifestyle Magazine have joined forces to give back to the community by creating a speciality whiskey cocktail called “THE LOCAL”. The drink is made with locally sourced ingredients such as Carlsbad Strawberry Company fruit, locally farmed mint, and and fresh lime juice.
“The Local” speciality cocktail is available at numerous North County restaurants and bars, so be sure to ask for it! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Urban Surf 4 Kids, a local non-profit supporting foster children.
The tasting room in Vista is open to the public. Keep an eye on their website for more information. heneberywhiskey.com
