You Had Me At Aloha
Is there ever a time we’re not in the mood for a tropical getaway? Didn’t think so. This whimsical tropical photo shoot styled by Couture Events, is filled with decor that is both chic & dreamy plus captures the perfect essence of relaxing summer entertaining. From pineapple centerpieces to coconut cups, with a color palette of pastel pinks, yellows and teals, the team behind this shoot kept things simple yet striking.
We often overdo it when it comes to entertaining. Hosting a dinner party should be a fun experience…especially for the host. We gathered up some of our favorite tips from the professionals, to help make it as stress-free as possible.
First off, offer a signature drink cocktail when the guests arrive and put out a charcuterie board; including meats, variety of fruits and cheeses for guests to nibble on. It can be set out ahead of time, doubles as decor and no need to turn on the oven. For a more dramatic centerpiece, use tea sandwich trays or cake stands to add a variety of heights. Speaking of not heating things up in the kitchen…opt for a donut bar for dessert. Because, who doesn’t love a donut?
Root Cellar Catering believes “We eat with our eyes first, and when you match a beautifully composed plate with well seasoned local produce then that’s just magic.” Here in San Diego we are blessed with some of the best weather this country has to offer. Our coastal mild climate means we can choose from nature’s bounty at its peak pretty much year round. “We love mixing colors and textures creating dishes that stimulate all of the senses. Hit up your local farmers market, get to know the people growing your local food, ask questions, and get suggestions of what’s in season. Above all, have fun with it, your dinner guest will notice the care you put into sourcing local, and cooking from scratch.”
Fresh flowers instantly transform a space. To recreate this look, use a combination of any of these flowers including: tulips, ranunculas, poppies, garden roses, orchids, asiatic lilies, pin cushion protea, anthurium, spirea, tuberose with ferns, palm leaves and monstera leaves.
Krystel Tien, Founder of Couture Events, says there are few things to keep in mind when entertaining outdoors during summer. “Wind does play a factor, so account for a windy day by using weights or containers to hold any paper goods! Also remember if you are entertaining after hours, specialty lighting such as candles or market lights can help to create an enchanted atmosphere.” What we love about this is that you can easily recreate this look with a little spray paint, some pineapples, and some gorgeous floral.
